Endre Kis (b. 1980)
Through his montage-like compositions, Endre Kis creates a world where realism meets abstract and traditional meets contemporary. His artworks are based on the dualities he proposes by contrasting two dissimilar subjects. The tension created by the collision of the various components in the paintings results in thought-provoking effects. His use of universal figures in unique and alien contexts are inspired by the digital realm, as well as elements of the analogue world such as famous artworks, literature, and the Bible. His symbolism and artistic statements consider concepts related to social and environmental issues.
